It is the status update feature which is very much similar to the stories feature in Instagram and Snapchat. Introducing this feature, WhatsApp has released an update with which it removed the old status where the users used to post text as their status.

How to create/update status:

  • Open the WhatsApp, tap on Status, and then click on My Status
  • Now click on the Plus icon on the top right corner of the app screen.
  • You can select the photos and videos that you want from your gallery or you can even take photo by tapping on the button and hold it to take a video
  • Add a caption or message by clicking on the add caption option and tap on the send button.

That is it, you are done with updating your status and you can check how many people viewed your status by clicking on the menu button on the right side of it. This status will be automatically deleted in 24 hours.

You can change the Privacy settings of your status by going to status tab and click on the three dots icon and then on the Status Privacy option. Here you can find three options My contacts – where the status will be shared with all of your contacts, My contacts except – where you can share your status with your contacts by excepting a few people, Only share with – where you can share your status with only a few people.
